Reds are hard for darker skin women to wear, because sometimes it doesn't match our undertones or it's just WAY TOO bright. Super bright shades can drown out your natural glow. I was leery of wearing anything hotter than a vampy, wine-colored lip. But after seeing Janelle Monae slay the look all 2017, I wanted to try and find a good red lip to see what fashion journeys it would lead me on.
I never thought my skin was dark enough to be considered chocolate, but men tend to think otherwise (*snort*). I am often reminded of how chocolate I am. It makes me laugh sometimes, because what I see and consider to be chocolate is darker, richer than my skin tone. To know that I am a part of that "TEAM CHOCOLATE" is quite interesting to me. Not bad or good, just interesting.
